Follo Railway Line

The Follo railway line (Follobanen) is a high-speed railway line running between Oslo Central Station and the new station in the municipality of Ski in the Follo district, south of Oslo, Norway. It is under construction, and currently the largest infrastructure project in Norway.

The Follo line project entails four main contracts: HeidelbergCement’s subsidiary Norcem is delivering cement for three of these. The main part of the project is construction of the two parallel tunnels at 18.5 km each. Four TBMs (Tunnel Boring Machines), two in each direction, drill the tunnels from a middle point outward. Tunnels are clad with concrete elements, which are produced at the project production site. Cement is also used for injection during drilling, when needed.

The cement contract for the TBM contract between Norcem and Acciona-Ghella JV is the single largest in Norcems history, with a total volume of more than 280,000 tonnes.
